Scholarship, Stipend, and Grant Information At the International, State, and Chapter Level

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International offers financial assistance in the form of scholarships, emergency funds, and educational foundation grants.  One of its purposes is “to endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators”.

Annually the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International awards up to thirty (30) $6,000 (U.S.) International scholarships to members for study at the master’s degree and $10,000 (U.S.) for work at the doctoral level.  To qualify for an international scholarship, the applicant must have been an active member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for a minimum of three years.

Recipients of the Gamma Gamma Recruitment Grants may be given the opportunity to apply for additional grants from the ISO of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International:

The Gamma Gamma Chapter’s Educational Excellence Committee may nominate a full-time female IL college/university student for the ISO Grant-In-Aid.  She must be an IL resident and may be studying in the field of education.  She must be a current or previous chapter recruitment grant recipient.  She shall have completed three (3) semesters or equivalent quarter hours of college work by February 1st, and submitted all  application requirements by that date.

The M. Josephine O’Neil Arts Award is sponsored by the ISO Women-In-the-Arts of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.   Applicants must be female IL residents in their sophomore or junior year at an accredited four year college or university.  Students must be majoring in and demonstrate outstanding accomplishment in music, dance, drama or fine arts to qualify.  This award is ONLY offered in odd numbered years.

The William Charles Iwert and Elizabeth J. Iwert Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students who are admitted into an educational program at an accredited university.  Those who accept the scholarship are asked to consider active membership in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Active members ISO Delta Kappa Gamma Society International are able to apply for:

The Emilie U. Lepthien Scholarship which provides $2,000 to a member who is working toward her PhD in administration.

The William Charles Iwert and Elizabeth J. Iwert Scholarship of $2,500 is to be applied for one year of undergraduate or graduate work.

The Dr. Emma Reinhardt Scholarship Fund provides an endowed IL State Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded to an active member who has shown outstanding service to Delta Kappa Gamma.

Special Study Stipends are awarded for up to $2,000.  Stipends are given to provide women educators with financial support for educational activities (not in a degree program) to develop skills that promote professional and/or personal growth.

Gamma Gamma Chapter   (Applications found below)

The chapter Educational Excellence Committee awards a Gamma Gamma Scholarship  with a maximum ceiling of $100.00 to a chapter member for course work or workshop taken for professional growth.  (Examples:  To maintain or improve professional certification as CEU, CDPU, SLP, and SSW—or coursework/workshop toward an advanced degree in education.)  The course/workshop must be taken between April 1st of the previous year and April 1st of the current year.  Eligible members shall submit an application and supporting documents to the committee chair by April 11thNO applications and/or documentation will be accepted after this date!  The Gamma Gamma Scholarship is awarded at the May chapter meeting by random selection of a member’s name from those submitting the necessary information.  (A reimbursement check will be disbursed at a later date.)

The chapter Educational Excellence Committee awards a Love of Learning Stipend with a maximum ceiling of $100.00 to an active chapter member for a class or a workshop taken for personal growth.  (Examples:  If a $25.00 class is taken, it earns a $25.00 reimbursement.  A $350.00 class earns the ceiling of a $100.00 reimbursement.  A $25.00 class combined with an $85.00 class earns the ceiling of a $100.00 reimbursement.)  The classes/workshops must be taken between April 1st of the previous year and April 1st of the current year.  Eligible members must submit an application and supporting documents to the committee chair by April 11th.  NO applications and/or documentation will be accepted after this date!  The Gamma Gamma Love of Learning Stipend is awarded at the May meeting by random selection of a member’s name from those submitting the necessary information.  (A reimbursement check will be mailed at a later date.)
